Pink Up the Pace: Franklin 5K & First Community Missionary Baptist Church Annual Easter Egg Hunt

~Pink Up the Pace: Franklin 5K~

To kick off my reign as Miss North Carolina International 2012, I participated in the 23rd Annual Franklin 5K. The Zeta Tau Alpha Chapter at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill  hosted this event in Chapel Hill, NC to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. The race benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Arc of Orange County, the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation.

ZTA members and I took a quick picture before the race!
The course routed participants through the UNC campus as well as Chapel Hill neighborhoods. Several vendors such as O2 Fitness and UNC Cancer Hospital displayed information about Breast Cancer and ways to create a healthy lifestyle. In addition, ZTA did a wonderful job cheering us on and advocating that the goal was to fight to the finish line!

~First Community Missionary Baptist Church Annual Easter Egg Hunt~

I had the honor of hosting the First Community Missionary Baptist Church Annual Easter Egg Hunt! First Community Missionary Baptist Church is located in the small, big heart town of Hillsborough, NC. The welcoming children curiously asked what it was like to be Miss North Carolina International 2012 and after a few minutes of chatting, I quickly felt as if I was a member of their church.

The kids raced each other to collect the most eggs! Their faces brightened with smiles while they opened the eggs to receive bubbles, whistles, candy, and other numerous prizes! I would like to thank First Community Missionary Baptist Church for the support and the opportunity, I will be back again!
