ADHD Awareness. . .The Tale of Two Queens Part I

Avery and I had such fun today going up to Hickory, NC and attending the What a Girl Wants event at the Union Square Emporium.  There were many attractions including the famous Gourd Lady from the Jay Leno show.  This special lady was 95 years young and still full of life.  She was raising money for the YWCA!

We also had a lot of fun meeting new people, like Miss Lenoir Rhyne University and a representative of New Directions Counseling Centers.  The center actually treats many children with ADHD and has invited Avery and I to appear at their grand opening of their Mooresville office sometime later this year.  There was music and prizes, great food, but the best part was being able to share our passion for raising awareness of ADHD and collecting donations for CHADD, the organization that benefits children and adults with attention deficit disorder.  This was truly what we wanted when we chose to attend this event.

Avery and I had a chance to meet not only Miss Lenoir Rhyne, but the Lenoir Rhyne University mascot Bear!

Avery and I had some fun getting pictures taken, signing autograph cards (in return for a donation of course!) and just enjoying the festivities. The food was yummy as well!

We would like to thank Stetson Patton and Christy Cresson for inviting us to be a part of this special day!  We truly enjoyed it and loved being able to raise awareness and money for Attention Deficit Disorder.

Avery and I have our next event planned for next Saturday, May 28, 2011 in Fort Mill, SC.  We will be raising money for CHADD by organizing and hosting a car wash and bake sale.  The location is on Route 160 across from the famous Peach Stand in Fort Mill.  All proceeds will go to CHADD National.  If you are in the area, be sure to come get your car washed, buy a baked good, or just give us a donation!  Until next time. . .this is Chelsea Gregory, Miss South Carolina International 2011 signing out!
