A very special sign....

It was an early summer morning that we traveled to Shelby, NC to partake in a very worthy cause filled with promise.  The "Care for Carey 5 K" run to raise funds for an "11" year old little girl named Carey.  She has been fighting colon cancer since 2009.  This fundraiser would help the Heavner family pay her medical bills.

Jason and Shannon Devine worked especially hard to put this event together over the past 3 months!  The town of Shelby came to support their work!  Shannon asked for me to hand out the runner trophies and Joseph was running in the 5K.

Coles-Albert was an excellent cheerleader for Dada as he ran past us!  We then were able to greet him at the finish line with a refreshing bottle of water.

My little guy and I then enjoyed the Fun Run, which was MUCH shorter than the 5k, but none-the-less a great memory we now share.  Coles-Albert was so proud of himself!!!

Everyone was very excited with the times they had clocked and finishing the run.  It was special to be a part of this so meaningful event that the Devines' had worked so hard on planning!

Thank you for all you do Shannon and Jason for our community, state, and nation!
You both are such an inspiration to many!
