Miss NC International at Wines of the World for PWA!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well!! On Friday, August 27, Positive Wellness Alliance hosted its first BIG event, the Wines of the World Reverse Raffle and Auction Benefit. It featured wines and food from four regions of the world, prizes and the chance to win a $1,000 raffle along with lots of other silent auction items. All of the funds benefited Positive Wellness Alliance, so we are able to provide case management, education, housing, and awareness for HIV/AIDS clients and their families.  I am happy to report that Wines of the World was a HUGE success!! We are so excited that we were able to raise over $5,000!

As Board Chair for Positive Wellness Alliance, I am so blessed to say that we have an amazingly committed board and wonderful staff.  Everyone helped serve food and drinks, sell extra raffle tickets, organize the silent auction, and just make all the party attendees feel welcome and like this was the event to be at. As Miss North Carolina International my job was to pick out the raffle numbers. I felt a little bit like Vanna White! For those of you that are unfamiliar with a reverse raffle (I was until we decided to host this event), basically it operates in the exact opposite fashion of a regular raffle. Instead of the first number called winning the prize, the last number called wins the prize. I am proud to say my number was in the top 5, but the winner was so sweet and she decided to split her $1,000 prize with PWA.

Ultimately, we could not have asked for a better turn out! I was so excited to see some of my friends, partners in the community and of course my wonderful and supportive boyfriend. It was such a wonderful time of fellowship, fun and benefiting a great cause!

Thank you for reading my blog!

All of my blessings,

Kristie Tobias
