MRS. NORTH CAROLINA-Guest at the HEARTS OF HOPE LUNCHEON

I was honored to be a guest at the Fourth Annual Hearts of Hope benefit luncheon for the Raleigh Rescue Mission. The Hearts of Hope Benefit Luncheon is an event for women of influence and affluence in our community to join in assuring that homeless women and children receive services necessary to positively impact their lives and futures.
This event gives compassionate women an opportunity to help change the lives of and offer hope to women and children in our community. The Hearts of Hope Benefit Luncheon is part of an annual Hearts of Hope Campaign to raise funds for women and children’s ministries. Funds raised help meet the basic needs of women and children and support various programs in the Raleigh Rescue Mission for the women and children’s ministry.
I was pleased to be invited by a Mrs. Scharmen Konieczka, whom I am pictured with at the luncheon. I look forward to hearing great success stories like the one that was presented by a recipient who made her life better through being at the Raleigh Rescue Mission. Thank you to the North Ridge Country Club for their luxurious accommodations for the luncheon.

A Day in the Life of a NORTH CAROLINA INTERNATIONAL Queen!

from the Director
Today was incredible! After spending the prior evening with Julie, Ladaria, and Christina planning and
preparing for our
trip to Chicago, today we woke bright and early. Our day consisted of a full breakfast at the Embassy Suites, followed by photos and video! At 10:30am, we hit the road to Charlotte to attend the Reign Fine Apparel trunk show! Jamie Estrada, Owner, was excited to see us, and the ladies enjoyed first class service from Jamie and her staff! We also enjoyed taking more photos when Donald Latham arrived!! Donald Latham took photos of the

MRS. NORTH CAROLINA "SUITS WOMEN TO HELP CHANGE LIVES"

Mrs. North Carolina puts a smile of approval on the suiting process as she prepares for a client coming in for the first time to be suited! I know that DFS is not focused on trends or fashion when suiting clients but that they keep in mind what is appropriate for the specific interview, and that's what counts. The goal is to make the clients feel valued, appreciated and empowered and this process prepares them through the employment process as they become reintegrated into their communities.
(DFS) Dress For Success-Triangle's success rate is impeccable, suiting 147 women last year with a 90% placement in jobs that were retained from their very first interview! My passion with Dress For Success is so apparent because not only does a woman get suited for her new job physically, but emotionally as well. She gains job skills to ensure her success in securing and maintaining employment and skills to last her a lifetime in the event that she makes a transition.

Womens ACC Tournament with FRIENDS

I am a spokesperson for FRIENDS for an earlier breast cancer detection organization. FRIENDS had a table set up at the women's ACC tournament. This organization is different because it provides direct grants to researchers that funds technology for earlier detection, instead of finding a cure. Our slogan was Ribbon Ends pointing upward in a new direction for earlier detection. It represents optimism for a better tomorrow! This was a 3 day event for me, so it was really great to see familiar faces coming back each day! We passed out pink ribbons (by we, I mean a team of volunteers, or as I like to say a team of FRIENDS). It was very touching to hear some people's stories of survival or loved ones lost to breast cancer. The ACC theme song was called "She can play," by Damien Horne. He also played a benefit concert downtown for the Organization. He also played at halftime of the Championship game (MD won!) and it was dedicated to former NCSU coach, Kay Yow, who lost her life to cancer this past year. His tribute was so wonderful to such a remarkable coach, woman, and friend! I got great reception at the Greensboro Coliseum, there were so many children's groups, families and some very cute little girls who were terrific! For the championship game, I got to sit on the court! There was also a team of great people that I got the pleasure of working with all weekend. Including the founder of FRIENDS, Marth Kaley who has been such an inspiration to me! Her hard work and sacrifice is changing lives around the world, and I feel so blessed to be a part of such a great organization!

Triangle Dress for Success Seminar
This week, I was given the opportunity to attend the Triangle Dress for Success seminar entitled Dress: 101 in Durham, North Carolina. This was an informative session that discussed the purpose of Dress for Success and the process that goes on to help suit the women for either their very first interview with an employer or their employment suiting opportunity (when they actually get the job). Professional Career services are set up and the ladies can choose to attend to make certain that once they get the job, they can retain it. These women feel apart of their communities when they are able to make progressive steps in making their lives better.
I had the absolute pleasure to meet the Founder/Director, Mrs. Pat Nathan. She has a undying compassion to help see women in the Triangle succeed through the likes of our local affiliate and throughout our state. Great minds think alike because I too have the same passion!
Since opening in June 2008, DFS Triangle has served more than 150 women with a goal to serve 500 women in 2009!
More than 5,000 women have received career coaching, mentoring services, and professional development support through this global organization.

Caitlins Closet Dress Giveaway March 7th 2009

The Dress Giveaway was at My Party Palace in Kernersville N.C. Put on by Katie Godfrey owner of Catlin's Closet.
Miss Teen N.C International Christina Roach and Miss N.C International Julie Tesh helped girls pick out the perfect prom night dress.
Saturday, March 7, 2009 marked NC's first ever Caitlin's Closet dress giveaway and it took place at My Party Palace in Kernersville. This particular dress giveaway was open to all Forsyth County high school girls who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to attend or been able to afford the expense of prom. We had refreshments for everyone, as well as exciting raffle prizes!
Prizes included: *Manicure/pedicure and mini prom make-over courtesy of Balance Day Spa in Kernersville.*Make-up kit from Caitlin's Closet's very own cosmetics line valued at $75.00*Photo package for prom or senior pictures valued at $250.00 courtesy of Zumwalt Photography of Winston Salem.
Over the past several months Katie Godfrey had been collecting donated gowns from all over the state...and at just yesterdays event they were able to giveaway over 45 gowns to underprivileged girls in our community.
Total in just the Forsyth County area we have given away close to 100 dresses! Caitlin's Closet is one of the only organizations where girls are able to come and receive dresses at absolutely no cost! My goal was to ensure that these girls not only left with a sense of self-worth but I wanted to help reduce the expenses associated with Prom so that they could go and have a worry free and amazing experience!
